Ahipara School is seeking an experienced caring and reliable Teacher Aide to join the team. This is a vibrant Community School with 225 Primary aged students and 36 staff.
In this role your duties will include providing personal care and feeding support for a high needs student, assisting with School duties, and offering general classroom support as required.
The ideal candidate will be mature, physically fit, flexible in an ongoing changing environment, be compassionate and empathetic, able to build positive relationships, and work well with staff and students. You will either have teaching experience, and / or have special needs caregiving experience- this is not a beginner role. Having a Full DL would be an advantage so you can collect/ drop off the student if needed. Any relevant Qualifications and First aid training will also be beneficial.
The role starts Term 4 on 6th October but hiring now due to the diligence needed for this important position. From 2026, Wages can be 'annualised' which means there is pay during school holidays.
Job Requirements
1- have previous Special Needs Caregiving and / or Teaching experience- this is not a beginner role. 2- Any experience to be detailed on your CV and able to provide at least 1 reference. 3- have no previous criminal convictions to pass the Police Vetting check. 4- Have your own car and at least Restricted driver licence to get to the School, unless living within walking distance. 5- provide a Cover Letter detailing a little about you, why you'd like this role and what you bring to the position.
