The client you will be supporting is based in Burnside. Your scope of support will include:
• Personal Cares You will provide 1 to 1 support with personal daily cares such as showering (on alternate days), toileting, manual bowel evacuation, suppositories, dressing, shaving, grooming, and oral care.
• Spinal Injury Support & Clinical Tasks You will support a client with a spinal cord injury who needs help with daily routines. This includes things like bladder care and supporting their bowel routine.
• Mobility & Manual Handling You will assist with all transfers using equipment such as a ceiling hoist, slide sheets, and transfer belts. Safe technique, patience, and attention to the client’s comfort are key.
• Communication & Behavioural Support You will support a client who values clear, respectful communication and consistency in their daily routine. Building trust and maintaining a supportive approach is key to their sense of autonomy.

• Have a minimum Level 3 in Health and Wellbeing qualification. • Must hold a valid and current Basic First Aid Certificate • Have a NZ Full driver’s license and reliable transport. • Experience with high-needs care patients is an advantage but not mandatory. • Show interest in rehabilitation and enabling independence. • A strong commitment to providing exceptional care and support, with respect for Te Tiriti o Waitangi and cultural safety. • Possess strong interpersonal skills and integrity.
Additional Advantage: Experience supporting clients with spinal cord injuries and/or managing complex care and behaviours of concern is highly regarded.
