An upcycling DIY collective that delivers skills based classes to our community in Tamaki Makaurau and the Waikato is seeking an creative individual who is willing to grow with the organisation as the Upcycling Apprentice.
The kaupapa is about promoting creativity, mindful making and sustainability. They believe that everything and everyone deserves a second chance as part of a social and environmental Just Transition.
The Te Ao Maori Apprentice will walk together with our collective and learn hands on DIY and upcycling skills within a kaupapa Maori aligned environment. Supported by experienced makers, this role nurtures personal growth through tikanga Maori, whanaungatanga, and sustainable practices.
As part of The ReCreators team, the apprentice will participate in wananga and team co design processes, applying matauranga Maori to creative reuse and environmental care.
The role will eventually grow into facilitating community workshops.
Job Requirements
- Creative and hands on. - Knowledge and willingness to learn and operate power tools. - Interest in upcycling reclaimed wood/material. - Willingness to learn to facilitate workshops - MOJ considered on case by case basis. - Must have reliable transport.
