The Papakura Town Centre Ambassador Programme is a community-based initiative designed to enhance safety, promote the town centre, and provide support to businesses and community groups. Ambassadors act as the "eyes and ears" on the ground, fostering a positive environment for residents and visitors. This programme draws on the successful Manurewa and Clendon Town Centre Ambassador Programme, adapting its key learnings and best practices for the Papakura context.

The Papakura Town Centre Ambassador will play a vital role in creating a welcoming, safe, and vibrant town centre. They will achieve this through proactive patrols, community engagement, support for local businesses, and collaboration with key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities: • Proactive Patrolling: Regularly patrol the town centre, providing a visible presence to deter crime, graffiti, and illegal dumping. • Community Engagement: Build positive relationships with residents, businesses, and community groups. Act as a point of contact and provide information about local services and events. • Business Support: Engage with local businesses, offering support and promoting a positive trading environment. • Event Support: Assist with community events and initiatives, contributing to the vibrancy of the town centre. • Conflict Resolution: De-escalate situations and resolve conflicts peacefully and effectively. • Support for Vulnerable Individuals: Offer assistance to those in need, such as the elderly or people experiencing homelessness, connecting them with appropriate support services. • Reporting and Communication: Maintain accurate records of activities and observations and communicate effectively with the Team Leader and other stakeholders. • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the Team Leader, local businesses, community groups, and local authorities.

Training and Support: Comprehensive training will be provided, including: • Community engagement and communication skills. • Conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques. • Local knowledge and resources. • Health and safety procedures. Ongoing support and mentorship will be provided by the Team Leader.

Skills and Experience: • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. • Ability to build rapport with people from diverse backgrounds. • Strong observation and problem-solving skills. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. • A positive attitude and a passion for community engagement. • Experience in customer service, community work, or a related field is desirable. • Conflict resolution skills are desirable. • A current First Aid certificate is desirable.

• Must be physically fit as walking is a big requirement. • We are seeking local people with local knowledge of the area. • Reliable transport. • Must pass MOJ.
