We’re looking for a motivated and detail-focused individual to join our Historic Claims team as an Information Coordination & Claims Specialist.

This unique role spans two key functions: assessing individual claims and coordinating personal information requests. You’ll switch between these functions based on team priorities and workload.

What You’ll Do – Your day-to-day work will vary, but includes tasks such as:

Claim Assessment Duties • Review and analyse claimant information using the Historic Claims assessment framework. • Assess individual claims related to abuse in State care, and prepare well-reasoned recommendations to support decision making. • Work collaboratively within a supportive team to ensure fair and empathetic outcomes for claimants. • Accurately document findings and recommendations to ensure consistency and quality in the assessment process.

Information Coordination Duties • Process daily requests from claimants seeking their personal information. • Read, review, and prepare up to 300 pages of documents per day for release, ensuring they comply with relevant legislation (e.g., Privacy Act). • Provide claimants with timely, clear, and meaningful information about their time in State care. • Help facilitate healing and resolution by giving claimants access to crucial details from their past.

Job Requirements

• Strong knowledge of the Privacy Act • High attention to detail and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively under pressure. • Experience delivering client-focused administrative support and corporate advice. • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with a strong sense of empathy and emotional intelligence. • Ability to quickly absorb and interpret large volumes of information. • A commitment to upholding the Treaty of Waitangi and contributing to a culturally responsive service. • A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience is an advantage. • Ability to work in a fast pace and complex environment. • Strong attention to detail • Collaborative and supportive team player • Required to have a CV and Cover letter highlighting their interest and experience relevant to the role. • Must be able to pass Standard Employment checks and police check.
