Apprentice Appliance Technician

An apprenticeship offered to the right candidate who is passionate about appliances and have some demonstrated skills. We are looking for a hardworking individual who has the best in customer service and multitasking skills to juggle training, work and service technician duties. You will be given a salary and expected to learn and work with support form employer including use of vehicles and mobile phone use. The job will comprise of workshop duties and mobile service calls at customers premises. You are expected to: • Travel to work sites as required to perform installation, repair or maintenance work. • Accurately diagnose units • Read work orders or descriptions of problems to determine repairs or modifications needed. • Confer with customers or users to assess problems. • Observe equipment in operation to detect potential problems. • Inspect systems to determine if they are operating properly. • Read technical information needed to perform maintenance or repairs. • Test mechanical equipment according to industry specifications to ensure proper functioning. • Provide repair cost estimates and recommend whether appliance repair or replacement is a better choice. • Estimate costs for labour or materials. • Disassemble appliances so that problems can be diagnosed, and repairs can be made. • Test electrical circuits or components for proper functioning. • Repair worn, damaged, or defective mechanical parts. • Reassemble equipment after repair, adjust equipment to ensure optimal performance. • Record maintenance and repair work performed on appliances. • Instruct customers regarding operation and care of appliances • Collect payments for good or services. • Install appliances such as refrigerators, washing machines, and stoves. • Perform testing as required by industry practices National Standard AS/NZ3760:2010 • Work within all New Zealand Electrical Safety laws
Job Requirements
Reasonable care of own health and safety Responsible of others during work duties Some knowledge in EAS Full Drivers License Good customer service skills Attention to detail Good mechanical and electrical aptitude.
