A local dairy farm in Bulls is looking for a Dairy Farm Assistant to work full-time. The roles involves assisting with and the managing of feed planning as appropriate, managing weeds and pests and applying fertilizer and implement irrigation requirements. You will also ensure the effective operation of all aspects of the milking process, including plant hygiene and somatic cell count, operating and maintaining the effluent system to meet all regional council compliance requirements and the employer’s additional standards. Duties also include to maintain all appropriate effluent management records, to implement their animal health programme, assist with calving, wintering, and the calf rearing programme to achieve minimal losses and to ensure high quality replacements are available for the herd and ensuring herd records are maintained, reporting any incidents of unwell animals with the Dairy Farm Manager, contributing to the farm business plan and assisting to manage repairs and maintenance schedule for all plant, machinery, and infrastructure. Job Requirements

Applicants must be physically fit and willing to learn. Must pass a pre-employment drug test and have no criminal record. No previous experience is needed in the dairy shed or with pasture-based farming as this is an entry level role and the employer is willing to provide necessary training. Must have a driver licence. Housing is provided on-site, and applicants must reside in the farm accommodation. Accommodation may be shared or private, depending on availability at the time of successful placement. No pets allowed.

8 days on and 3 days off and 8 days on & 2 days off. (30 hours per week)
