Permanent Orchard Team Member – Puketapu

An established orchard in Puketapu is seeking a motivated and reliable individual to join our team in a full-time, permanent position. This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in developing a career in horticulture. Full training will be provided, and you’ll gain hands-on experience across a wide range of orchard operations.

Key Responsibilities: General orchard and shed clean-up, including silt removal and debris collection. Dismantling and reinstalling orchard infrastructure (e.g. irrigation systems, posts, and wires). Digging silt from around trees and assisting in post-flood recovery tasks. Repair and maintenance of infrastructure. Assisting with planting, tree training, and pruning to support healthy tree growth. Use of tools and machinery, including chainsaws, ladders, loppers, and hydraladers for pruning. Maintenance of irrigation systems. Crop protection through chemical spraying (via tractor and sprayer). Weed management using quad bikes and spray trailers. Supporting the fruit harvest – including picking, tractor operation, quality control, and other harvest-related roles. Accurate record-keeping of daily work and orchard activities.

Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or in a team Eager to learn a variety of agricultural tasks Physically fit and comfortable with manual outdoor work Previous horticulture/orchard experience is advantageous, but not essential Must have a minimum Restricted driver’s licence and reliable transport. Must be able to pass a Ministry of Justice and police check Ability to pass a Drug test.
