Truck Dispatcher / Transport Dispatcher

This employer is seeking a highly organised and proactive Truck Dispatcher to coordinate their fleet and ensure the efficient and timely delivery of freight across New Zealand. This role is essential to keeping operations running smoothly, ensuring driver compliance, and maintaining a high level of customer service. Key Responsibilities - Schedule, assign, and dispatch loads to drivers in a timely and cost-effective manner. - Monitor and track truck movements using GPS and fleet management systems. - Maintain regular communication with drivers to provide updates and resolve on-road issues. - Ensure all transport activities comply with NZTA regulations, including driver work-time rules and vehicle load limits. - Collaborate with customers, logistics teams, and warehouse staff to manage delivery expectations. - Maintain accurate records of delivery times, mileage, fuel use, and route changes. - Respond to delays or emergencies, and make quick decisions to minimise disruption. - Coordinate vehicle servicing, repairs, and compliance inspections in line with company and regulatory requirements.
Job Requirements
Proven experience in dispatch, logistics, or a transport operations role (preferred). - Sound knowledge of New Zealand road transport regulations. - Proficiency in transport management software and GPS tracking systems. - Excellent communication and problem-solving skills. - Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities. - Strong geographic knowledge of New Zealand, especially key freight corridors. - Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, or weekends if required.
Qualifications - No formal qualification required, but a certificate in Transport & Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is advantageous. - NZQA Unit Standards in transport/logistics (optional). - Full NZ Driver's Licence (Class 1); Class 2-5 and Forklift Licence are a bonus.
