Kitchenhand - Onehunga

Onehunga based employer is seeking a Kitchenhand to join their team.

The employer is looking for someone that can help with their head chef with prep work, cleaning, and front of house serving.

Your main duties will include, but are not limited to • Helping the head chef to prepare all foods and bringing all food containers to the preparation point in the kitchen. • Helping the chef with the cooking of meals. • May have to run the kitchen with a front of house some evenings when the head chef is unavailable. • Assisting with marinating, cutting and precooking foods. • Cleaning and sanitizing the kitchen before the restaurant closes. • Assisting the head chef with any and other requests. • Setting up the kitchen prior to the restaurant opening. • Wrapping unused items and storing them in proper areas at the end of the shift. • Plating food creatively and maximizing customer enjoyment.

This position will be working nights, roughly 4pm-930pm Wednesday to Sunday. There will be further hours assisting with catering when this arises.

Ideally you will have a current food handling certificate, but the employer may be able to assist the right candidate with this. Have at least 6 months experience food prep in a commercial kitchen and be a confident cook. Have reliable transport to get to and from work - Onehunga transport centre is nearby. Be comfortable being on your feet for long periods. Have good communication skills as you will be assisting with front of house serving. Be able to pass a pre-employment drug test. Minor convictions considered on a case by case basis - employer will be conducting an MOJ check.
