Builder's Labourer

A Kapiti employer is looking for a Builders Labourer (potential apprentice in 6 months) to join their team.

We are a small team, with two full-time employees’ (who have been with us for 6+ years). Shane is the owner/qualified builder who works on-site with the team. A light-hearted, happy environment is considered necessary for the day, where everybody pulls their weight to get the job done.

Day to day duties include:

• Boxing formwork for foundations, laying pods, mesh, and steel. • Laying out waratahs and materials, hitting waratahs into the ground, carrying mesh and steel, and laying in place. • Using an impact driver to screw shutters together and unscrewing at the end of job. • Scraping shutters clean, loading trailer. Picking up material off-cuts and debris.

Work can be anywhere from Wellington to Feilding, although typically it is Levin south. Transport is provided when it is out of the Kapiti area – leaving from Sheffield Street, Paraparaumu.

• The biggest requirement is finding someone that is enthusiastic and committed to finding a job and being reliable. • No experience necessary but the applicant must be happy working outdoors (which is at times challenging in the weather) • Be reasonably fit and strong. • Being capable of using power tools is an advantage as is good math skills. • Reading is essential. • No licence required but reliable transportation is a must to get to the site. • No pre-employment drug test but random drug testing is covered in the employment contract. • Strictly no alcohol or drugs will be tolerated on the building site. • Updated CV is required.
