Orchard Worker - Waiharara

Experienced seasonal Avocado Orchard Worker positions are now available near Waiharara, which is 20 minutes north of Kaitaia. Responsibilities include picking the fruit, pruning the trees and general maintenance work on the site. This is a Casual role, with work starting mid-late July until January 2026.
Transport may be available to and from work, at a Kaitaia pick up point or on the route to the orchards, though there is limited capacity during peak season.
The ideal applicant will be reliable, able to take instruction and work part of a team, able to meet targets and have initiative and a good work ethic.
The work is 5 shifts, rostered across all 7 days of the week. There will be 2 days off ( which may not be together), and there may be the option of working an extra shift. Start and end times are generally 7am to 4pm, with some flexibility required.
Job Requirements
1- Have previous similar orchard/ fruit & veg picking experience, noted on your CV. 2- Be able to get to Waiharara, or to the Kaitaia pickup location in time. 3- Be fit and healthy enough for the tasks- you'll be on your feet all day and carrying up to 15kgs when picking. You may be asked to provide medical history information as there is no option for light duties. 4- Be drug-free in order to pass random drug testing. 5- Any criminal convictions are to be disclosed, and will be considered case by case. There WILL be an MOJ check carried out. 6- Employer will definitely be checking references, so candidates MUST have referees available to be contacted.
