About this job

At our very busy farm in Maruia, we require 3 Dairy Farm Assistants who can: Assist with the development and implementation of feed plans to meet herd nutritional requirements throughout the year. Monitor and manage weed and pest control across the farm in line with best practice and compliance standards. Apply fertilizer according to nutrient management plans. Implement and monitor irrigation scheduling to optimize water use and pasture growth. Ensure the smooth operation of all milking processes, including milking plant hygiene. Monitor somatic cell count and work to maintain milk quality standards. Operate and maintain the effluent system in full compliance with regional council regulations and employer-specific standards. Maintain accurate records of effluent application and system checks. Implement animal health programs as directed by the veterinarian and farm management. Monitor animal health daily and report any incidents of illness or injury promptly. Calving, Wintering, and Calf Rearing: Assist with calving and wintering activities. Support the calf rearing program to minimize losses and ensure the development of high-quality replacement stock. Maintain up-to-date and accurate herd records including health treatments, births, deaths, and production data. Collaborate with the Dairy Farm Manager to contribute to the annual Farm Business Plan. Assist in managing the repairs and maintenance schedule for all farm infrastructure, machinery, and equipment to ensure continuous, efficient operation. Single shared accommodation available.
