Production Assistant

Selwyn: We are looking for a motivated, self-starter to assist with day to day farm operation. This is a hands on role which includes cultivation, direct seeding, spraying, fert application & transplanting. Ideally you'll have previous farm experience including spraying and a love of horticulture as we'd like someone who can 'hit the ground running'!

Skills: - Horticultural or Agricultural Industry training or on the job experience including cultivation, planting, seeding, mowing, fertilizing, spraying and crop harvesting - Operation & preventative maintenance of tractors, implements & general farm equipment - Knowledge of operation of irrigation systems - Knowledge of farming software & good computer literacy - An understanding of NZ GAP & GrowSafe - Ability to drive a manual vehicle well & have min of restricted license

This is a full time position of 40+ hours per week and requires a degree of flexibility with start/finish times to meet the weather.

We need someone who is energetic, reliable & a 'do what you say you are going to do' type person who thrives on variety, enjoys working outdoors no matter the weather & can work effectively as part of a team and not be afraid to get stuck in to get the job done. Please note that the role involves a certain amount of spraying and is a requirement for the position.

- Flexible on start/finish time to meet the weather and occasionally required to work on weekends - Physically fit (must be able to lift 20kg) - Able to drive a manual vehicle well & have min. of restricted license - Able to pass the pre-employment drug test and MoJ checks - Candidates must have their own reliable transport as there is no public transport on the route
