Greyhound racing is an exciting career, past-time and interest for many thousands of people across the nation. Greyhound Racing NZ Limited (GRNZ) is the controlling body of the sport in New Zealand, conducting and promoting the sport across the nation.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual on a full-time basis to join our Great Mates Greyhound Rehoming Program in Levin. Great Mates has kennel bases across the country where we are dedicated to providing high quality care and training to find each and every greyhound a loving home when they retire from racing.

Ideally you will have plenty of experience working with and caring for dogs as well as knowledge in basic training, canine health and behaviour. You will need to enjoy being in the great outdoors in all weather conditions and be physically fit to accommodate the physical demands of this role. You will also have the desire to continually learn and upskill in canine training, health, behaviour and wellbeing. Role specific information:

Provide care to dogs

Gather and maintain relevant dog information

Administering medication as required

Walk, exercise and socialize the dogs

Groom and brush the dogs

Clean and maintain the facilities

Providing ongoing enrichment

Attending training sessions

Required days of work are Friday to Tuesday (including weekends)

Job Requirements

To be successful in this position you will need to have or prepared to obtain:

Good communication and time management skills as well as the ability to work autonomously as well as a part of a team is essential

A strong work ethic

A willingness to learn

Patience and compassion towards the dogs

Strong customer service

Basic first aid

The physical capabilities to meet the requirements of the position

A flexible work approach to perform a wide variety of tasks

A passion for working outdoors

A clean Police record
