Are you physically fit and enjoy working outdoors? We are looking for people to join our winter pruning team. There is plenty of work available, starting from July until September – with the opportunity of further work.
ABOUT THE JOB: Working as part of the team you will be assisting the Orchard Manager with winter pruning - one of the most crucial steps in orchard management to set the kiwifruit crop up for the next fruit harvest. Starting in July, you’ll be based at our orchards around the Pukekohe/Franklin area. The work is casual and is weather dependant, with most work being offered Monday to Friday with some weekend work. You’ll be paid on “piecework” basis, based on the speed you prune. This means your hard work is well rewarded. Our top pruners earn $30+ per hour and you can expect to earn at least $23.85 per hour + 8% holiday pay when you start. Full training provided. Winter pruning is just the beginning and further work may be available for those who are interested.

ABOUT YOU: You will be: • Physically fit, and able to work standing with your arms overhead using pruning equipment • Reliable, punctual, with your own transport. Able to drive to any of our Franklin orchards • Experienced with outdoor work or winter pruning (Ideally) • Able to speak and understand English • Able to make quick decisions • Hard working with good attention to detail • A team player with enthusiasm to learn new skills • Contactable by mobile phone so we can let you know when there is work available

Job Requirements
• Reliable transport to get to work, in order to get to any of our Franklin orchards- no public transport • Need to have covered footwear suitable for orchard, and jacket for light wet weather • Must be able to speak and understand basic English. • Need to be fit, and able to work standing up with arms over head, while using pruning equipment. • Ideal height is approximately 165-185cm, this is to fit under the vines without having to crouch or bend your neck, while still being able to reach the vines. • Available in July for approximately 12 weeks
