On-Farm Assist – Seasonal and Casual Opportunities in the Waikato region

Opportunities are now available for On-Farm Assists to join a passionate team providing hands-on support to dairy farmers across various regions of New Zealand. We currently have roles available in the Waikato region, specifically in: • Morrinsville • Te Aroha • Orini • Huntly • Ngatea • Ngaruawahia • Matamata These seasonal and casual roles are ideal for individuals with a strong customer focus and a genuine interest in animal welfare and the rural lifestyle. The season typically runs from July/August 2025 to April/May 2026 each year.
About the Role On-Farm Assists travel to dairy farms within their region to help deliver vital on-farm services. The role is varied, and no two days are the same. Key tasks may include: • Assisting during herd testing (e.g., during milking) • DNA sampling • Herd audits • Weighing animals This position requires flexibility with working hours, including early mornings and split shifts. Weekly hours will range from 20 to 40 hours, depending on the time of the season and workload.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors, thrives in a physically active environment, and values variety in their work. While previous farm experience is a bonus, it’s not essential — full training is provided for the right candidates.

Job Requirements
• Have a positive, can-do attitude and be quick learners • Demonstrate excellent customer service and communication skills • Show strong time management and attention to detail • Be physically fit and comfortable working on their feet • Be flexible with start times and able to work split shifts as needed • Be self-motivated and professional in their conduct • Hold a full, current New Zealand driver’s licence and own vehicle • A restricted licence may be considered if the candidate is close to obtaining their full • Be comfortable working early mornings and variable hours • Have the legal right to work in New Zealand (essential) • Be able to declare any criminal convictions during the application process • The employer will contribute to travel costs, with the reimbursement amount depending on petrol prices and how they fluctuate
