Stock Person at Pig Farm
About this job
Animal Health & Welfare - Monitor pig condition and behavior for signs of illness or distress. - Administer treatments or vaccinations as necessary. - Take proactive measures to enhance animal condition. - Communicate any concerns to the Production Manager promptly.
Nutrition Management - Determine and monitor appropriate nutrient levels for stock. - Ensure consistent and equal access to feed and water.
Transport Readiness - Prepare pigs to meet required standards and condition for processing and transportation by specified dates.
Record Keeping - Maintain detailed records of sow and boar histories, including: - Mating, litter size and condition, temperament, and physical condition.
Facility Cleanliness & Maintenance - Ensure pens are kept clean and meet animal welfare standards. - Identify maintenance issues and coordinate necessary repairs.
Team Collaboration - Work cooperatively with other staff members. - Uphold and promote company values and policies. - Actively participate in team meetings and assist colleagues as needed.
Reporting - Provide accurate verbal and written reports as required.
Health & Safety - Promote a culture of safety and be vigilant in identifying and addressing risks to staff and livestock
Job Requirements
- Minimum 6 months Experience working with pigs or other livestock. - Good observational skills with the ability to detect health or behavioral changes. - Knowledge of basic animal health care, including administering treatments and vaccinations. - Understanding of animal nutrition and feeding systems. - Strong record-keeping and organizational skills. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team. - A proactive and responsible attitude toward animal welfare and farm safety. - Must have a Full Drivers licence - Must have Reliable Transport - Must Clear MOJ, Alcohol, and Drug checks
