Hostel Receptionist

We are looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Hostel Assistant to join our small, friendly team and help manage the day-to-day operations of our 4-star hostel during afternoons and weekends. This is a hands-on role that involves a mix of reception and cleaning duties, with occasional split shifts. As an integral part of our team, you will ensure the hostel runs smoothly, efficiently, and profitably while maintaining a welcoming and enjoyable environment for all guests.
You will represent the hostel throughout all stages of the guest experience—from check-in to check-out. Key tasks include confirming reservation details, processing registration forms, assigning rooms, and verifying payment methods in line with credit-checking procedures. You’ll input guest and room details into our Abode booking system and work closely with the housekeeping team to ensure rooms and common areas are clean and well-maintained. You’ll also coordinate basic maintenance requests and report any issues to the manager.
In addition to providing excellent customer service, we’re looking for someone who is sales-minded and can assist guests in booking activities, buses, or finding local work opportunities. You will also be responsible for completing daily cash-ups during morning shifts, handling complaints professionally, and supporting our social media efforts to help promote the hostel. The ideal candidate will be a team player with strong communication skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Previous experience in hospitality or tourism is preferred, and familiarity with the Abode system and social media is a plus.
Job Requirements
Must have 1 year of experience in a hostel accommodation setting or similar, have knowledge of using Abode, Social media experience, Experience using online reservation software and working with online sale platforms such as Booking.com, hostel world. Be able to converse with other cultures. Microsoft Office, leadership skills and attention to detail. Ability to manage and exceed customer service experience. Self-motivation, initiative and great problem solving skills, Excellent interpersonal skills
