Youth support worker

A local Rangatahi service provider is seeking multiple Kaitiaki Rangatahi (Youth Worker) to join their team. The primary role involves providing supervised access and minding for children/young persons, promote the personal, educational and social development of children/young persons, respond to the needs and interests of the child/young person and work in a range of environments contusive to their needs. Typical activities include supporting child/young person in various settings, encourage social inclusion, meeting liaising and networking with key stakeholders and working and meeting with whanau to support the child/young person. The ideal candidate will show empathy and patience with a genuine concern for others, ability to relate to children and whanau, communication and negotiation skills, initiative, leadership, written and oral skills, time management, maintaining confidentiality and cultural sensitivity and awareness. Pass MOJ check and drug test Reliable transport Able to commit to rostered on days MOJ checks take anywhere between 4 - 6 weeks
