Warehouse Lead Hand

Vinnies Tamaki Makaurau Community Hub, is a Catholic Charitable organisation dedicated to caring for people. VTM houses a large foodbank warehouse that supports families with emergency food parcels and resources. We handle a high volume of incoming and outgoing goods and pride ourselves on teamwork, reliability, and making a positive impact.

The Role We are seeking a Warehouse Lead Hand to join our team. This is a hands-on leadership role, responsible for supporting the Warehouse Manager in the daily operations of our busy warehouse. You will lead by example, support staff and volunteers, and ensure efficient, safe, and accurate handling of all goods.

Key Responsibilities *Lead and Supervise: Oversee daily warehouse operations and provide guidance and support to warehouse staff and volunteers. *Hands-On Work: Participate in all aspects of warehouse work, including receiving, processing, storing, and dispatching goods. *Training: Train new staff and volunteers on safe work practices, equipment use, and warehouse procedures. *Health & Safety: Ensure all health and safety regulations are followed and promote a culture of safety in the workplace. *Inventory Management: Assist with stocktakes, inventory control, and maintaining accurate records. *Problem Solving: Resolve issues as they arise and communicate effectively with the Logistics Ops Manager. *Continuous Improvement: Identify and recommend opportunities to improve warehouse processes and operations.

Skills and Experience *Proven experience in a warehouse or logistics environment (minimum 5 years preferred). *Previous leadership or supervisory experience is highly desirable. *Current forklift licence (OSH certificate and F endorsement required). *Class 2 truck licence is an advantage. *Strong organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills. *Physically fit and able to perform manual lifting and warehouse duties. *Confident using warehouse management systems and computer applications. *Commitment to health and safety and safe manual handling practices.
