Dairy Farm Assistant role Hikurnagi

Full time permanent position for a farm assistant role that will see you working between a 50 bale rotary and a 22 aside herringbone in rural Hikurangi aprox 20 mins north of Whangarei.

You'll have a range of duties to keep you busy, interested and developing including: Milking twice a day, shifting cows and feeding, fencing, weed control, calving, calf rearing, shed cleaning and setup, identifying and alerting managers to sick cows, setting fences and other general farm duties. You will be honest, reliable, have your own transport, be drug free with no criminal convictions , take pride in your work, be a team player and be passionate about the industry willing to upskill and learn. Are you self motivated can you use your initiative and have common and stock sense?

Basic tractor skills are a minimum, more an advantage. Flat to some rolling/steep country.

This is a split calving farm milking all year round with a roster of 6 days on 1 day off during calving and 5 on 2 off for the rest of the season.

Milking starts at 5am with the afternoon milking generally ending at 5pm, so if your not a consistent early worm this wont work for you or the team.

A solo 2-bedroom house is included. This is valued at $15,600 per annum and will be deducted as rent from your wages. Excellent local school (Matarau) with school bus at the gate. Minimum 6 months experience physically fit and meet all the requirements in order to apply for this role on a progressive modern farm with a great supportive and dedicated team.

Strictly no DOGS allowed.

Start date Gypsy day 1 June min pay rate $27.00 hr for 50 hours a week
