Shift Supervisor/Barista

We are seeking a passionate and customer-focused Shift Supervisor/Barista to join our friendly team at a locally owned, independent cinema in Petone. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys hospitality, has a keen interest in film, and thrives in a vibrant community-oriented environment.

About the Role As Shift Supervisor, you will play a key role in the day-to-day operations of the cinema, ensuring a high standard of customer service while overseeing a small, dedicated team. The cinema operates 7 days a week from 8:30am until late, with a variety of opening and closing shifts available.

Two shifts : • 4 shifts per week (28–32 hours) • 5 shifts per week (35–40 hours)

Key Responsibilities • Supervise and support team members during shifts. • Deliver outstanding customer service. • Operate tills and assist with movie ticket sales. • Serve cabinet food, snacks, beverages, and prepare barista coffee. • Assist in running events including functions, fundraisers, and children’s parties. • Perform projector shutdown procedures (full training provided) • Act as the first point of contact for customer concerns. • Serve as the on-site Fire Warden during shifts (training provided)

• Ability to pass a Ministry of Justice background check • LCQ or Duty Manager’s Certificate is highly desirable - Alternatively, training and certification support can be provided for Eligible candidates (must be 20+ years old with at least 6 months' Recent experience in a licensed premises, e.g. restaurant server) • Barista experience preferred (training provided if necessary) • Own vehicle and full driver’s licence required if not based locally due to limited late-night public transport options.
