Support Worker

We have a Kapiti Care Provider that is looking for a support worker. The people we support have intellectual disabilities and a range of other challenges.

Support enjoyable activities: Help individuals engage in hobbies and interests that bring them joy and promote positive routines.

Encourage independence in the community: Assist with using public transport, navigating local areas, and participating in community life.

Promote life skills: Support with managing personal finances, budgeting, and making informed choices.

Assist with daily living: Help with meal planning and preparation, encouraging healthy eating and involvement in cooking.

Provide respectful personal care: Depending on individual needs, assist with tasks like showering, dressing, and grooming in a dignified way.

Maintain a safe and supportive environment: Administer medication, and ensure routines and spaces are calm, predictable, and responsive to individual needs.

Foster positive behaviour and communication: Use person-centred strategies to understand behaviour as a form of communication and work collaboratively with professionals to support emotional wellbeing.

• Hold a New Zealand qualification, at Level 3 or above, in a relevant subject. • Hold an equivalent overseas qualification in a relevant subject (Relevant subjects include health and wellbeing, disability, education, nursing, psychology, social work, sport science, or similar) • Have at least two years of relevant experience. Must have NZ full drivers’ licence, own car a must as a no public transport available. • Must be able to pass a pre-employment MOJ check and drug test. • Updated CV required.
