We are seeking a dedicated, proactive, and experienced Assistant Manager to support the daily operations of our vibrant Indian restaurant in Greymouth and Hokitika as required. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining high operational standards, ensuring excellent customer service, and leading a motivated team in a fast-paced environment. • Operational Oversight: Manage the daily operation of the restaurant and bar, ensuring smooth workflow across all departments including front of house, bar, and kitchen. • Compliance & Standards: Ensure full compliance with all licensing laws, food hygiene standards, health and safety regulations, and internal policies. • Staff Management: Schedule staff as per roster requirements. Manage staff absences, arrange replacements, and monitor shift coverage. Ensure team members are briefed, directed, and supported according to their roles. Promote fair treatment and adherence to employment contracts and house rules. • Customer Service: Handle customer enquiries, bookings, and complaints professionally. Greet and interact with customers to ensure a welcoming and pleasant dining experience. Offer menu advice and recommendations, particularly regarding Indian cuisine and specialties. • Quality Control: Maintain consistently high standards in food presentation, cleanliness, hygiene, and service. • Communication & Liaison: Liaise with customers, suppliers, licensing authorities, health inspectors, and sales representatives as required. • Business Development: Propose and implement improvements to enhance service, increase efficiency, and contribute to the growth and reputation of the restaurant.

Job Requirements

• Previous experience in a supervisory or assistant management role within the hospitality or restaurant industry (experience with Indian cuisine preferred). • Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene, and licensing regulations. • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills. • Ability to remain calm and solutions-focused in a fast-paced environment. • Proficiency in using reservation systems and point-of-sale (POS) software. • A customer-first attitude and passion for delivering exceptional service.

Tuesday to Sunday Evening start at around 5pm (40 hours per week)
