Poultry Rearing Assistant

Mangatangi based employer is seeking a reliable and hardworking Poultry Rearing Assistant to help with the daily care and management of poultry flocks. The successful candidate will assist in feeding, monitoring animal health, cleaning housing areas, and ensuring a high standard of animal welfare.

Key Responsibilities: • Be responsible for the collection of data and maintenance of all flock records, such as weight charts, vaccination dates, vaccine serial numbers, expiry dates etc. • All day-to-day poultry management, checking of brooder rooms and rearing houses, this includes feeding systems, watering systems, ventilation systems, cleaning of brooder rooms, water blasting, manure removal, vaccinations of poultry, relocation of poultry both in and out of the brooder rooms. • Removal of dead birds from sheds. • Compliance with all Company policies relating to biosecurity and health and safety. • To work every second weekend and from time to time when required to, additional hours/days. To assist with load outs and delivery of pullets to other sites and to our customers. • Any other general duties in relation to poultry rearing including any maintenance that may be required. • Will be required to vaccinate the birds on farm.

• Previous experience with poultry or other livestock preferred but not required. • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment (e.g., lifting, bending, working in warm/cold conditions). • Good observational skills and attention to detail. • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team. • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends or holidays if needed. • Can pass MOJ/ Drug test. • Reliable transportation as no public transportation available.
