Barber
About this job
We are looking for passionate, skilled, and community-minded barbers to join our growing whanau. Whether you’re a seasoned barber or still developing your craft, we offer a supportive environment where you’ll be mentored, challenged, and empowered. Our barbers don’t just cut hair — they create experiences. Each fade, line-up, and beard trim is a chance to connect, inspire confidence, and show Manaaki (care). Your role will involve performing a range of barbering services including skin fades, scissor cuts, beard design, and customer consultations. You’ll also support our wider Kaupapa through education, cultural awareness, and community outreach. We run barbering workshops and events, offer mental health and wellness integration in our space, and encourage everyone on our team to bring their authentic selves to work. We foster a team-first approach that respects each barber’s individuality while maintaining a high standard of professionalism. Our commitment to personal and collective growth is central. You’ll receive guidance and feedback, have access to upskilling opportunities, and be encouraged to explore your unique expression within the craft. You’ll be part of a space where integrity matters. From how we greet clients to how we support each other on and off the floor, our values shape our service. We uplift, we guide, and we take pride in giving more than just a haircut — we provide a healing, grounding, and empowering experience. This isn’t just a job — it’s a space to grow as a barber and as a person. If you’re someone who takes pride in their craft, who values culture, connection, and community, and who wants to be part of a Kaupapa that makes a difference — we want to hear from you. Join us in creating a barbershop experience like no other, where every haircut is a gift, and every client interaction is a chance to
Job Requirements
We’re looking for barbers who bring more than just technical skills — we want people with heart, presence, and purpose. Ideal candidates will have at least 9 months of barbering experience or hold a Level 4 Commercial Barbering Certificate. However, we’re also open to those with less experience if you demonstrate hunger to learn and a willingness to be coached. Reliability, professionalism, and consistency are essential. You must be open to feedback and committed to developing your skills over time. Our shop thrives on whanaungatanga (relationships), so the ability to work well with others and contribute to a positive team environment is key. You’ll need to bring a strong work ethic, a passion for people, and a genuine connection to community and culture. Whether you’re Maori, Pasifika, or from any walk of life — a respect for Te ao Maori and the values we uphold is vital in this space. We work with all kinds of clients, and being able to hold space, show care, and uplift others is just as important as the cut itself. If you’re looking for a place to grow as a barber and make an impact — we’d love to meet you.
