Directional Drill Operator

Operate machinery for installation of underground utility services and conduit, including fibre optic cables, power duct, water pipe, and building construction. Ensure safety of the public and other utilities, underground facilities. Perform duties per safety procedures using appropriate safety equipment. Setup and cleanup work site, including traffic and pedestrian control. Read utility locates and Risk Assessments before commencing work. Ensure applicable permits and plans are valid and on site. Inspect work in progress to ensure workmanship conforms to specifications. Operate vehicles and equipment operations from trucks to other equipment. Perform proper maintenance of drills and equipment, and note any major repairs. Lead and assist team with work in and out of the machine when required. Fill out all required Risk Assessment documents before, during, and after work. Ensure health and safety guidelines are followed and assist in implementing health, safety, quality aspects. - Must have at least 1 year of relevant drilling experience - Class 1 driver's license or international equivalent - Familiar with general road work practices. - Preferably have a good understanding of underground services - Ability to pass a drug and alcohol test prior to employment. - WTR endorsement preferred. - Comply with health and safety requirements and wear appropriate PPE gear. - Ability to write up logs, safety checklists and incident reports. - Must be smartphone savvy. - Basic first aid qualifications are an advantage.
