Peer Support Worker - Pukekohe

We want you to join our team! We are looking for a Peer Support Worker to help people with disabilities who might be unsafe or treated badly, and the whanau and families supporting them.

The primary service objective of our Whaikaha 'People for Us' service is to awhi and support adult disabled people- ensuring they are safe, free from harm and abuse and living their good life.

What you will do in this role: -Help adults with disabilities who might be getting hurt or not treated well. -Help people who can't protect themselves -Help people find the right services and support -Talk with people about their problems -Show people where to get help -Create a safe place where people feel understood -Help people make good choices about their care.

We want someone who knows what it's like to have a disability, intellectual or learning disability- Someone who cares about others - Someone who likes to help people. You will have a Full clean driver licence to drive company vehicles, and if you prefer to use your own vehicle for work, there are reimbursements ( Full DL still required though).

1- Have previous experience caring for and supporting someone with a disability OR hold an NZ Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Social and Community Services) (Level 4) (Disability Support) OR have a disability themselves. 2- have a Full Class 1 driver licence (with no conditions) in order to drive business vehicles. 3- have ZERO past criminal convictions as there will be Police Vetting carried out. 4- have an up to date CV and be able to provide details of 2 contactable references
