Volunteer and Foster Coordinator and Animal Attendant

A position has become available for a Volunteer and Foster Coordinator and Animal Attendant based in Nelson. Duties include:
• Provide for the physical health and behavioural needs of all animals at the centre • Develop, coordinate and maintain sustainable foster programs at the centre • Manage and support our volunteers and volunteer programmes • Ensure effective, efficient and consistent running of all foster programs and initiatives • Support the animal attendants, foster families and volunteers and ensure centre standards are maintained
Job Requirements
A completed a Certificate in Animal Care (Level 3 or above) • A current Certificate in First Aid • An appointed Auxiliary Officer under the Animal Welfare Act 1999 including having knowledge and understanding of the Animal Welfare Act desirable. • Practical animal-handling experience and knowledge and experience in animal behaviour and basic care. • Experience and confidence in handling animals with a range of temperaments. • An understanding of animal behaviours and zoonotic diseases is desirable. • Experience in providing vet treatments including flea, worm, vaccinations and microchipping. Able to pass an MOJ
