Our Employer is currently on the look out for a Support person in the areas: Hoonhay, Bishopdale and Sockburn.
Responsibilities for Support Staff. General Support: -Assist managers in implementing planning goals. -Support individuals with daily programs and routines. -Participate in community and work placements, providing written commentary on experiences. -Maintain daily communication diaries for individuals. -Share insights about individuals with colleagues to enhance care.
Communication & Collaboration: -Engage in regular discussions with management about individual progress. -Collaborate with team members to ensure effective communication strategies are implemented.
Daily Operations: -Assist with cleaning duties, including kitchen and laundry tasks. -Help individuals during lunchtime, adhering to medication administration protocols. -Participate in programmed physical activities, including swimming.
Supervision & Program Implementation: -Supervise small groups and ensure adherence to provided programs. -Implement individual behavior management strategies as outlined in personal plans. -Embed principles of enabling good lives into everyday practices.
Qualifications and Additional Responsibilities (Level 4 Staff): -Attend planning meetings and document goals. -Regularly review individual folders to track goal completion. -Administer medications as required. -Conduct van maintenance and mileage checks. -Support new staff in completing manual handling checklists and provide mentorship. -Communication Support:
Assist individuals in achieving communication goals and effectively using communication equipment.
Job Requirements
- MUST be able to PASS Ministry Of Justice Check. - Hold a full class 1 license. - Empathy and Understanding: Demonstrates a compassionate approach to support individuals with complex disabilities. - Flexibility and Initiative: Exhibits adaptability and the ability to take proactive steps in various situations. - Energy and Motivation: Maintains a positive and enthusiastic attitude in all interactions. - Teamwork: Works effectively as part of a team, contributing to a collaborative environment. - Physical Capability: Capable of handling the physical demands of the role, including hoisting, toileting, and personal care tasks. - Effective Communication: Communicates clearly and effectively with individuals and team members. - Initiative: Takes the lead when appropriate and seeks out solutions. - Policy Adherence: Follows organizational policies and procedures diligently. - Lived experience of disability would be an advantage however not essential.
