Passionate Workshop Facilitator sought to deliver migrant support programme in Grey Lynn. Involves interpreting services, cooking, workshop facilitation, networking, administration, to support and deliver community empowerment initiatives to support the migrant and ethnic communities in New Zealand to make informed choices related to settlement, and integration.
Interpreting Support • Ideal person would be someone looking for a part-time role.
• Provide either Arabic, Hindi or Urdu interpreting services in a workshop and group setting when required.
• Creating either Arabic, Hindi or Urdu translation of PowerPoints and resources when required to support the target population.
Meal Preparations • Cooking for up to 20 people, can use or be trained to use commercial stoves to cook curries, halal dishes, vegan, rich, salads, baking and making tea.
• Assisting and preparation of meals for workshops, networking meeting and food parcels.
• Making sure the kitchen is clean and tidy after meetings.
Workshop Facilitation • Facilitating the delivery of the migrant support programme, resources and activities engaging children, and families through presentations and learning resources that meet the needs of families.
• Set up and clean up duties before and after the workshops and connect groups.
• Coordinating one-on-one and/or group support and training that assists migrant and ethnic communities to meet settlement related outcomes.
Administration • Maintaining an up-to-date record of attendance sheets in Excel database.
• Working with team to provide administrative support when needed.
• Entering data for surveys in database before the end of the month.
Community Engagement and Networking • Supporting community engagement by partnering with families and communities to raise awareness about the Trust’s work and organize events and workshops by inviting the people.
Job Requirements
• Ideal person would be someone looking for a part-time role.
• Be prepared to be trained, pitch in where need, and be flexible as required.
• Fluent in Arabic, Hindi, or Urdu.
• Able to prepare and cook for up to 20 people- curries, halal dishes, vegan, rich, salads, baking and making tea.
• Able to facilitate workshops and be trained to deliver migrant support programme.
• Able to use Excel database, Microsoft, make power points, carry out data entry.
• Have an interest or have community engagement experience.
• Have or be prepared to get a Food Safety Training and Certificate-knowledge about food handling and hygiene practices to be able to work in the community kitchen.
- Days of work
- Wed-Sun: daytime up to about 7pm evenings. Sometimes work from home when workshops not being run. (15 hours per week)
