Herd Manager

We have a local employer who is looking for a Herd Manager to play a key role in the daily and seasonal management of their farm. This hands-on position involves animal health, pasture management, calving support, farm maintenance, and data monitoring, ensuring the smooth operation of the farm and herd performance.

Key Responsibilities:

- Assist with herd health, stock movement, milking, mating, dry-off, and calving - Support calving activities, including night checks, newborn calf care, and feeding - Oversee pasture walks, grazing plans, feed-out, and crop management - Maintain machinery, vehicles, milking plant, and farm infrastructure - Use Halter technology to record, monitor, and report key farm performance data - Contribute to cost control, budgeting, and farm expense management - Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations - Track and analyse weekly farm metrics to optimize farm performance

Ideal Candidate:

- Experience in dairy farming, herd management, and pasture management - Strong understanding of animal health and calving processes - Ability to operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment - Comfortable using farm technology for data monitoring and reporting - Strong organizational and problem-solving skills - A team player with a strong work ethic and attention to detail
