Road Traffic Controller - Start on Monday!
About this job
A traffic controller is responsible for directing and managing traffic on roads, especially when there are roadworks, construction, or other disruptions. Their main role is to ensure the safety of both drivers and workers by controlling the flow of traffic through the affected area. They use signs, stop/go paddles, or other signals to guide vehicles and pedestrians, helping to avoid accidents and keep everything moving smoothly. In addition to directing traffic, they also help set up and pack down work sites. This involves tasks like: 1. Setting Up: Before work begins, they set up road signs, barriers, cones, and other safety equipment to alert drivers and pedestrians about the roadworks or disruptions. This helps create a safe environment for workers and ensures traffic is properly managed. 2. Packing Down: Once the work is finished, traffic controllers help remove the signs, barriers, and cones, ensuring the road is clear for regular traffic. They also make sure the area is safe and that everything is properly stored. So, traffic controllers not only manage traffic but are also involved in preparing and clearing the work site. It’s a job that requires good communication, attention to detail, and the ability to stay alert and focused.
