Silviculture Worker

Located in Marlborough but travel may be required throughout NZ. The position holder undertakes skilled Silviculture work including planting, thinning and releasing of predominantly pine trees. Full-time, permanent position. You will be drug free. You will be fit, reliable and honest. Being a responsible team member leading by example. Ensuring that daily production targets set by the Foreman are being met. Actively participating in daily tailgate meetings. Inspects his own tools and equipment used. Familiarising with emergency procedures and hazards as well as their control measures. Reporting of all accidents and/or injuries which might occur during working hours no matter how minor. Planting of predominately Pine Trees to regenerate the bush of production forests. Releasing of Pine trees in production forests. Regen pulling in production forests. Thinning to waste in production forests. Occasional fire suppression duties. Pay rate will be $30-$35 per hour depending on experience of individual.

Secondary Education is desirable but not necessary for the right candidate • 3 Years’ experience in Silviculture. Ideally experience in thinning and planting • Must be physically fit, healthy and drug free • Ability to perform strenuous physical activity; ability to work outside year-round; ability to work at heights without undue discomfort; ability to carry heavy load (25-30kg); ability to communicate verbally and in writing; ability to create effective working relationships with fellow Employees and Crew Foreman and Company Director; ability to utilize safety procedures • Ability to work in outside weather conditions. The Employee frequently works near moving parts in precarious places and is frequently exposed to wet and humid conditions, temperature extremes, fumes or airborne particles, traffic and toxic and caustic chemicals. • Ability to work in an environment where the noise level is often high.
