We currently have 26 permanent employees and expect this number to increase to 90+ for the Forest Establishment (planting) season. A large percentage of these people will be new arrivals from Pacific Islands. So much of the cooking will need to cater to Pacifica tastes.

While our office is in Gisborne, we have crews operating in rural areas throughout the lower North and South Islands. Camp cooks must be available to relocate to different locations as needed.
Accommodation (single) is provided, rent for which is deducted from wages.
These are permanent, full time, largely self managed positions.
Hours involve early starts and late finishes with time off during the day, 8 hours on average, 5-6 days per week.
Our camps are drug and alcohol free.
Job Requirements
Personal Attributes: Neat and tidy Caring Empathy and understanding with respect to Pacific Island culture and people. Highly organized and self driven. Happy to live and work in a camp environment. Full drivers license. Experienced cooking for groups (20 to 40) A thorough understanding of food safety protocols
Main duties include: Preparation, Cooking, Serving and Cleaning. Ordering / Purchasing of food stuffs Ensuring balanced nutritious meals are prepared in a timely manner. Ensure food is prepared, cooked and stored in accordance with food safety standards. Supervision of assistants. Some general cleaning. Able to pass drug test and MOJ check.
