Chef de Partie

We are seeking an experienced and reliable Chef de Partie to join our professional kitchen team in a high-end Wellington CBD restaurant. In this role, you will take charge of two kitchen sections, ensuring that high culinary standards are consistently met while supporting the overall flow of service.
As Chef de Partie, you’ll play a key part in the day-to-day operations of the kitchen. You'll be responsible for preparing and presenting dishes to specification, maintaining food safety standards, and ensuring your sections run smoothly during service.
Key Responsibilities: • Lead and manage two assigned sections in the kitchen (e.g., grill, sauce, larder, or pastry) • Prepare, cook, and present dishes with consistency and attention to detail • Supervise and support commis chefs and kitchen assistants • Ensure mise en place is complete ahead of each service • Monitor portion control and minimise food waste • Maintain a clean, organised, and compliant kitchen area at all times • Report equipment issues and support kitchen leadership with stock control • Uphold all food safety and hygiene standards (NZFSA)
Job Requirements
• At least 2 years of experience in a commercial kitchen • Proven ability to manage multiple sections and stay calm under pressure • Solid understanding of food safety and kitchen hygiene practices • Strong knife skills and efficient preparation techniques • Able to lead by example and support junior staff development • Excellent time management and communication skills • Culinary qualification preferred but not required if backed by experience

- Days of work
- Hours will vary 35 – 40 per week. Monday through to Sunday. Varied and Split Shifts. To discuss with Work Broker. (35 hours per week)
