Dairy Farm Assistant

A Rangitoto based employer is looking for 2 dairy farm assistants. You will be required to complete the following tasks: - Assist with feed planning or the management as required. - Assist with managing weeds and pests. - Apply fertiliser and implement irigation requirements. - Ensure the effective operation of all aspects of the milking process, inclusing plant hygiene and somatic cell count. - Operate and maintan the effluent system on the farm to all regional council compliance requirements, and the employers additional standards. - Maintain all appropriate effluents management records. - Implement animal health program. - Assist with calving, wintering and the calf rearing programmed to achieve minimal losses and ensure high quality replacements are available for the herd. - Ensure all herd records are maintained. - Report any incidents of unwell animals. - Work collabortativley with the dairy farm manager and contribute to the farm business plan. - Assist with managing repairs and maintenance schedule for all plant, machinery and infrastructure. - Ability to work rostered shifts of 11 days on 3 days off and during calving 6 days on 1 day off.

Applicants are not required to have experience in the dairy shed, or with pasture-based farming as this is an entry level role and the employer is willing to provide necessary training Must have a driver licence
