Dairy Farm Worker

Southland based employer are looking for a Dairy Farm Assistant to join the team on their farm in Rakahouka. Herd size currently 450 operating through Herringbone shed moving from 1st June to 825 herd size in a rotary shed.

Must have a Full Class 1 Licence and Motorbike licence. Must be able to pass Pre-Employment Drug Test and Police checks as required.

You will need to be able to comply with our no smoking or vaping policy on farm or at accommodation provided and have no pets to keep at home.

Housing available for a single person in a movable/cabin type accommodation.

Role will include but not limited to: - Milking and Feeding cows and calves - Monitoring animal health and reporting any issues - Assisting with calving, young stock management and checking for signs of illness or injury - Cleaning milking sheds and other farm facilities - Maintaining fences and farm infrastructure tidy - Managing effluent and waste disposal systems - Picking up calves during calving time - Operating farm machinery like tractors, feeders, and other equipment including maintaining and cleaning machinery - Loading and unloading feed - Monitoring water usage and quality - Maintaining animal health records - Following farm safety procedures - Reporting any safety concerns - Ability to confidently work with cows and calves - Capability to perform demanding physical work in changing weather conditions - Working effectively with other farm staff
