Bay of Islands College are looking for a positive, innovative GATEWAY Coordinator and Careers Advisor to join their team and be part of their school-wide change and improvement journey. This is a single position covering both roles. The successful applicant will support students in career planning, workplace learning, and transitioning from school to further education, training, or employment. Key Responsibilities: ●Coordinating and managing the Gateway programme, ensuring students gain valuable workplace experience ●Providing career guidance and advice to students, helping them explore post-school pathways ●Liaising with tertiary institutions, training providers, and industry representatives ●Assisting students with scholarship applications and tertiary enrolments ●Organising apprenticeships, training, and employment opportunities for students beyond NCEA Level 2 ●Supporting students in developing CVs, cover letters, and interview skills ●Collaborating with whanau, employers, and colleagues to create meaningful career opportunities
Job Requirements
●Empathy, tolerance, and diplomacy ●A proven history of working with young people ●Attention to detail and strong organisational skills ●The ability to work both independently and as part of a team ●Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – verbal and written ●Proficiency in computer literacy and digital career tools ●The ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks ●A full driver’s licence and the ability to drive a manual vehicle ●A can-do, solutions-oriented attitude ●Updated CV and Cover letter must be submitted BEFORE 28/02/2025 ●Must be able to pass a full MOJ police vetting check and drug test
