Residential Coach Coordinator

A not-for-profit charity, providing residential, community based, rehabilitation, and respite services for adults with physical or neurological impairments, is looking for a Residential Coach Coordinator to join their team.
The role is to ensure that residents are enabled to achieve their goals and offered a wide range of activities that they can choose from to align with Enabling Good Lives principle of Self Determination. Leads the residential coach team and is responsible for the effective and constructive lines of communication and planning with Shift Coordinators, Nurses and the Residential Quality Advisor.
Key responsibilities
Enabling client’s choice
• Coordinates and oversees the development of client goals in conjunction with residents, whanau and relevant staff. • Ensures coaching team fully understand and embrace client’s goals. • Develops a rolling 3-month calendar of activities that clients can choose from. • Meets regularly with Shift Coordinators and Residential Manager to ensure great collaboration amongst team. • Works with Shift Coordinator to align appointments with activities. • Develops relationships with local organisations to further enhance choice for residents. • Conducts 6 monthly reviews of client goals to establish benefits and opportunities for improvement.
Lead residential coach team.
• Provides constructive feedback to staff on shift for both improvement and recognising good work. • Manages any issues on shift e.g. conflict and escalates to Residential Manager. • Works with team to allocate activities and events appropriately. • Manages logistics of activities and delegates implementation to coach team. • Works with Shift Coordinator to gain support worker assistance if required.
Health and safety.
• Complies with and role models health and safety policies and procedures. • Contributes to maintaining a safe and healthy environment that best meet the needs and interests of clients, staff, and visitors. • Reports health and safety incidents.

Job Requirements
• Diversional Therapist or similar qualification • Excellent organisational and people leadership skills • Understanding of basic Te Reo Maori (including greetings) • Confidence driving a large van as well as other vehicles. • Full NZ driver’s licence or legally licensed to drive in New Zealand • High level of IT competence • Hold a valid work visa. • Be able to gain a satisfactory NZ Police vetting check and drug test. Desirable • NZ citizen or permanent resident • Te Reo Maori proficiency • Sound knowledge of tikanga Maori (practice) and taha Maori (the way)
