Cairnfield House Rest Home / Hospital in Whangarei is seeking a part-time House Assistant to join their team. You may have the chance to cover additional shifts as needed. Mostly morning shifts 7.30am - 1.00pm and occasional evening shifts 4.00pm - 8.00pm. You will be working a rostered shift which at times will include weekends.

This is a great opportunity as an entry level position for anyone who has a passion and eagerness to work in the Healthcare industry with opportunity to progress with upskilling and training leading towards a Caregiver Role.

You will be tasked with the following:

Food and Preparation:

• Prepare kitchenettes for meal service. • Ensure cups, plates, and utensils are clean and ready. • Collect necessary items and food from the kitchen (food trolley, bain-maries, hotbox) • Cook toast and serve meals and drinks. • Serve morning/afternoon teas and suppers, and assisting feeding residents • Wash and put away tea and supper cups. • Ensure food in the fridge is labelled and dated appropriately, removing/restocking as needed • Clearing and setting dining tables and ensure table linen is clean. • Peel vegetables.

Housekeeping:

• Clean kitchenette surfaces, including fridge, cupboards, benches, dining tables and microwave. • Mop dining room and kitchenette floors. • Clean and mop staff and residents’ toilets/ensuites, vanities and sinks following infection control procedures. • Gather, sterilize and refill water jugs, returning them to residents’ rooms including drinking cups. • Tidy residents’ bedrooms and make beds to standard. • Maintain cleanliness of the water urn and its catchment tray.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to upskill and work towards becoming a Caregiver. Then encouragement and support for you if you decide to do Careerforce training.

Job Requirements

- Must be available to work weekends on a rostered basis - Reliable, honest and a clear communicator - Enjoy working within a team environment - Ideally hold a current First Aid Certificate - Clean Ministry of Justice record and consent to a Police Check - Provide x 2 forms of ID - Updated CV with x 2 contactable referees
