An Education Charitable Trust at Airport Precinct is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Qualified Builder & Youth Skills Trainer for a 1 year fixed term contract. Key Responsibilities: ● Deliver high-quality, practical training in building and construction, aligned with NZ Building Code standards. ● Develop customised training materials and lesson plans tailored to meet the diverse learning needs of participants. ● Foster a safe, respectful, and positive environment that encourages youth participation and growth. ● Collaborate with staff to monitor participant progress, adapting programmes as necessary to ensure ongoing engagement and success. ● Maintain administrative responsibilities, including recording attendance, evaluating skills development, and reporting on programme outcomes. ● Build relationships with local community stakeholders to foster engagement and create additional opportunities for youth participants. ● Exhibit patience, understanding, and professionalism while setting clear expectations and boundaries. ● A deep-rooted commitment to social equity and community service. ● Strong problem-solving skills and the flexibility to adapt to learners’ needs.

Job Requirements

● Must hold a relevant, recognised qualification in building and construction (e.g. trade certificate, building apprenticeship). ● Proven experience in the building industry, with a strong understanding of construction practices and safety regulations. ● Demonstrated commitment to working with Maori and Pacific Islander communities, showcasing strong cultural competence. ● Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate youth. ● Strong administrative and planning capabilities, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software. ● Previous experience in teaching, mentoring, or working with youth is highly desirable. ● Must be able to pass Ministry of Justice check. ● Must have a minimum restricted license.

Days of work
Monday to Friday, between 7 am – 6 pm (40 hours per week)
