Picker/Sorter - Scrap Metal

A Lower Hutt Business is looking for a Picker sorter to join their team. This is a hands-on role that includes some manual handling.
Our picker and sorter labourers are responsible for sorting and processing nonferrous scrap metal ready for export. They are also responsible for maintaining a clean and tidy plant and machinery on a daily basis.
Candidates will have the following:
• Be able to follow Safe Working Procedures for the work being undertaken. • Have a good eye to determine the difference in the products being sorted – training is provided to assist with types and gradings. • Be a team player. • Be health and safety minded. • Able to carry out pre-start checks on equipment and machinery. • Be prepared to learn and take part in ToolBox talks.

This is a Monday to Friday role with Saturday morning as rostered. We also have night shift hours available.

Job Requirements
• Hold a full clean driver’s license. • Be able to pass a full Criminal Police (MoJ) check. • Be drug and alcohol free – must be able to pass a pre-employment check and random drug testing. • Be legally entitled to work in New Zealand i.e., be either a New Zealand or Australian citizen or a New Zealand permanent resident.
