A vibrant and modern provincial pub in the heart of Matamata is seeking an experienced and dynamic Duty Manager to join their team. The ideal candidate will inspire and empower their team to succeed, ensuring that everyone has the tools, knowledge, and support to excel in their roles. They will maintain the highest standards of professionalism, respect, and customer service while fostering a positive and effective work environment.

Key Responsibilities: • Lead, motivate, and support the front-of-house team, ensuring they have the resources and confidence to perform at their best • Provide outstanding customer service, manage bookings, functions, and events • Ensure compliance with liquor licensing laws, health & safety regulations, and company policies • Uphold professionalism, respect, and courtesy in all interactions with staff and customers • Address and resolve customer complaints promptly, escalating issues to the General Manager (GM) when necessary • Maintain high standards of team performance, appearance, and company culture • Manage team discipline and ensure compliance with operational procedures • Oversee stock control, checklists, and security processes to ensure smooth operations • Perform end-of-shift duties, including cash-ups, lock-ups, and managing team tasks • Report operational issues to the GM, including maintenance concerns and team performance matters • Drive efforts to meet budget goals, improve operational processes, and enhance overall team performance

Job Requirements

• LCQ certificate with at least 6 months of relevant experience • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and guide a team • Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills, with a focus on resolution • Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure • Experience in team management, enforcing compliance, and overseeing day-to-day operations in hospitality • Convictions considered on a case-by-case basis
