WHAT’S THE ROLE: The company is looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Directional Drilling Trainee to join their Matamata-based team. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience and learn from industry experts. The role will be based in Matamata, with work across the Waikato and Bay of Plenty regions. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Onsite Support: Assisting with manual tasks, such as locating and exposing services, hand digging trenches, and positioning pipes and ducts. • Excavation & Installation: Helping with trenching and general excavation work to install services and reinstate the ground around work sites. • Team Assistance: Supporting the team with site setup at the start and end of the day, participating in pre-start meetings, and keeping accurate records of daily activities. • Collaboration: Working alongside clients and other contractors, ensuring safe work practices and compliance with temporary traffic management. • Safety Awareness: Contributing to maintaining a safe work environment by staying alert to potential hazards and following safety protocols.

Job Requirements

• Have a Positive Attitude & Strong Work Ethic: Eagerness to learn and dedication to the job, with a willingness to get hands dirty and work hard. • Be Physically Fit: The role requires manual and physically demanding tasks, so a good level of physical fitness is necessary. • Hold a Full License (or be close to obtaining it): A full driver’s license is required, or candidates should be close to getting it. • Be Willing to Speak Up: If unsure about something, the candidate should feel comfortable asking questions and seeking guidance. • Have Experience in Physical Work or Operating Machinery: Previous experience in physical labour or machinery operation is an advantage but not essential. • Be Able to Work from Matamata: The candidate must be based in Matamata and available to travel across the Waikato and Bay of Plenty regions for work. • Be Safety-Conscious: A strong commitment to safety, following company processes, and ensuring the safety of the team. • Be a Team Player: The candidate should be able to collaborate effectively with colleagues and other stakeholders on site.
