Production and Technical Manager

Seeking a suitably qualified candidate to manage the Production and Technical operations with emphasis on leading and coordinating the operation and technical aspects of a Unitec Optical Cherry Packing Line for a large Cherry Operation. This role is a permanent role based in Cromwell and includes the opportunity of spending 2-4 months per year working a cherry season in Canada / USA, in a similar role to upskill and keep up to date with technological developments.

Oversee pre-season maintenance, set up, and calibration of the Unitec optical cherry grader and packing equipment Coordinate Pre-Harvest preparation work Plan and direct production operations and staff to achieve operational efficiency and quality targets including: Assessing fruit quality to determine production schedule Optimise packouts while meeting applicable quality specifications Monitor packouts and production data to ensure quality and production targets are met Oversee scheduled preventative maintenance and calibration checks on the grader and packing equipment and solve problems as detected Identify and solve operational problems Training and supervision of seasonal packing line team leaders and production staff Ensuring sufficient staffing during peak season Liaise with the packhouse manager to set the daily packing schedule Establish good communication links with relevant parties (including all staff, export company representatives and customers) Meet regularly with staff and management to discuss continuous improvements of the packhouse operation Contribute to continuous improvement in systems and procedures and identify areas for cost savings Maintain detailed production records and reports Coordinate post season maintenance and improvements on the Unitec Optical Cherry Grader and packing equipment Keep up with latest technological developments by taking the opportunity to spend 2-4 months each year working in Canadian / USA cherry packhouses operating Unitec Optical grader
