Driller's Assistant

A Drilling company located in Maramarua is seeking a responsible and reliable Offsider to join our team. Training is provided.

The Offsider is responsible for supporting the driller and ensuring the smooth operation of the drilling rig. This includes equipment maintenance, safety compliance, assisting with tasks on-site, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

Key Responsibilities: Adhere to Health & Safety and Environmental policies. Maintain a tidy appearance, wearing the required uniform. Conduct rig inspection checks at the start of each shift. Ensure fluid levels (fuel, oil, water, batteries) are maintained on the rig. Assist the driller with tasks such as lifting rods, casing, and core box setup. Set up rig blocks and equipment to perform tasks. Operate rods and casing in and out of the hole as needed. Maintain a clean and safe work site. Assist the geologist by handling core, labeling core depths, and wrapping core. Ensure the vehicle is kept clean, washed at least once a week. Ensure all necessary equipment is loaded for the day ahead. Perform daily vehicle and tool checks. Load and unload excess equipment as required. Notify management of any safety or operational concerns. Ensure adequate water is available at the rig for drilling. Report any repairs, breakages, or loss of DCN property or equipment to the driller. Confirm with management that all tasks are completed before leaving the yard.

Ability to work well as part of a team. Strong attention to detail and safety awareness. Good physical condition, as the role involves manual labor. Knowledge of drilling operations and equipment is an advantage, but not essential. Strong communication skills. Valid driver’s license and ability to operate vehicles as required. Class 2 and 4 required. Convictions considered on a case by case basis Must pass drug test
