Assistant Hostel Manager & Hostel Caretaker

We are seeking an Assistant Hostel Manager and Hostel Caretaker to join our boarding staff team. The successful applicant will support our boarding managers with the supervision, welfare, and pastoral care of all Boarders, as well as undertake caretaking responsibilities within the Hostel.

The Assistant Hostel Manager position is term-time only, working 30 hours per week and includes 4 weekend duties per term. Rostered hours will be between 6:45 am and 10:45 pm. The role also includes Hostel Caretaker duties, requiring 30 hours per week during all school holidays. The role is therefore 30 hours per week for 52 weeks per year.

Pastoral Care: Assist the boarding managers with the supervision, welfare, and pastoral care of boarders, promoting college values, maintaining discipline, addressing student concerns, and fostering a culture of respect and engagement. Operational Duties: Conducting inspections, maintaining hostel routines, assisting with events, and managing daily operations to ensure boarders’ wellbeing. Caretaking Responsibilities: inspecting and repairing hostel facilities, performing basic maintenance (plumbing, electrical, painting), ensuring safety and security, and managing pest control and outdoor area upkeep. Communication: Liaising with parents, staff, and boarding managers to address concerns, provide feedback, and ensure appropriate support for students. Build positive working relationships with students in a structured environment.
