Apple Pickers

Job ID 22689816
Nelson Tasman, Motueka
Full-time
Listed on 13 Jan 2025

About this job

Apple harvest workers required for the season starting 13 Feb at a Moutere orchard. Part time hours available. Transport from Motueka can be discussed. • We train apple pickers to selectively take fruit off trees, looking for certain size, colour, ripeness etc, so pickers need good vision • Fruit is placed into padded pickers bag with a shoulder strap. The bags do get heavy and pickers will be working on ladders, so the work requires people to be physically capable and for all day work in, what often is, hot weather • Pickers will then empty the apple bags into wood bins and Orchard Supervisors will continually be checking for quality control, so pickers need to be ‘on-to-it’ to take care to complete the work well • Failing the quality checks will affect a picker’s efficiency and pay levels: People will start on an hourly rate to begin for learning, but more money is earned by good workers going on to a piece rate. Apply now!
